Borti4938 has also written a guide for this kit. It uses an older PCB revision but is still compatible. If you wish to cross reference, it can be found here.

Digital Inputs (RCP-NUS)

Disassemble the N64 console.

Locate pin 11 to pin 28 of the RCP-NUS.

Align the N64RGB Flex and solder in place. First pin (left side) is pin 11. Last pin (right side) is pin 28.
Important: Take time with this step. use lots of flux and ensure the solder joints are secure.

Flex Placement

Route the flex PCB to the AV Multiout as shown. There are three bends as highlighted in the picture.
Important: Bend very lightly and do not apply any true force or crease the flex.

Analog Output (AV Multi Out)

For NUS-CPU-01/-02/-03 boards, either remove ‘R14’ or cut the trace of pin 3 to the Multiout. Our PAL console here had ‘R14’ left unassembled stock so nothing was required.

Solder the Multiout side of the flex to the 7 Multiout pins.

Jumpers

Set the jumpers as desired. For our install, we used one of our NTSC SNES RGB SCART cables, so we left all jumpers open and only closed ‘JP10’ as we didn’t require the LPF.

JP9 (CSYNC level @ pin 3 MultiOut)
-- opened: appr. 1.87V @ 75ohm termination, i.e. needs a resistor inside the sync wire further attenuating the signal. Designed to work for cables with 470 ohm resistor inside resulting in appr. 450mV @ 75ohm termination
-- closed: appr. 300mV @ 75ohm termination suitable for pass through wired cables at sync, works with standard TV / scaler setup

JP10 (low pass filter THS7374)
-- opened: use low pass filter
-- closed: bypass

JP11 - JP13 (Cable)
-- all opened: NTSC cable
-- all closed: PAL cable

JDB pad & GND pad (VI-DeBlur)
-- opened: disable DeBlur
-- closed: enable DeBlur

Isolating Top RF Shield

Use tape to isolate the top RF shield at the area where the flex PCB is routed.

Finishing Up

Double check everything for shorts and ensure the power lines are not shorted to GND.
5V against GND (e.g. at C9 and at MultiOut pin 10 to 6)
3.3V against GND (e.g. at C11)
1.8V against GND (e.g. at C10)
